This month’s Microsoft Licensing Update is brought to you by our Lead Microsoft Consultant, Jeroen Hidding.

In this edition, he highlights several important changes and updates across Microsoft licensing such as the fast-approaching Windows 10 End of Support deadline and Extended Security Updates, Microsoft’s new pricing consistency model impacting Enterprise customers, a postponed rollout of Dynamics 365 license enforcement and more.

This licensing update includes key dates to be aware of, promotions in CSP and the latest changes to the Microsoft Product Terms that you’ll want to keep in mind for the months ahead.

Key Dates

Reminder: Windows 10 End of Support October 14th

  • After October 14th, 2025 purchase options are available via CSP and Enterprise Agreement (EA).
  • Starting October 14, 2025, Windows 10 will no longer receive security or feature updates. By purchasing Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (available in 12-month increments), organizations can buy more time to migrate to Windows 11.
  • The cost of Extended Security Updates will double in the second year (starting October 2026) compared to the initial year.

Microsoft release of ‘Pricing consistency‘ starting November 1st

  • Historically Microsoft Enterprise contracts had a price waterfall from Level A (starting with 500 users) to Level D (starting with 15.000 users or Government).
  • Microsoft is removing the waterfall pricing and Level A – D customers will get the same pricing for Online Services. Level D customers can be facing a price increase op up to 13 %.

Dynamics license Enforcement postponed: New date January 15th, 2026

Delay in price increase Dynamics Business Central licenses: New date Nov 1st

The date was initially set for October 1st, but has been pushed back to November 1st, 2025.

Microsoft Productivity Offerings

Microsoft is updating the productivity offerings. Microsoft has reached an agreement with the European Commission to address competition concerns around Teams.

Starting November 1, 2025, customers worldwide can again purchase Microsoft 365 and Office 365 suites with Teams or without Teams, with new fixed price differences between the two options. Microsoft is also expanding interoperability and data portability, providing APIs and migration tools for Teams data, and ensuring partners and EEA customers receive equal discount rights.
